I was sleeping like a lamb that night
When a cold hand covered my mouth
I couldn't shout as they held me tight
Like a sheep to the slaughter, they dragged me out

I knew what they would do to me
I cried, as they beat me that day
I'd be sold like a cord of wood
To be a bride to a man in a far-off place

Then came the lions, then came the lions
Then came the lions, then came the lions
With a roar like thunder that shook the ground
Like a circle of grace they gathered 'round
I once was lost but now I'm found
Then came the lions, then came the lions
Then came the lions, then came the lions

I'll never know how it happened that way
When the lions took me as their own
I only know that the men ran away
And the lions kept watch 'til my family came to take me home

then they slipped back into the jungle, like a gift they left me there
I would have liked to tell them "Thank you", I was so scared, I did not dare

God bless the lions, God bless the lions (2x)
With a roar like thunder that shook the ground
Like a circle of grace they gathered 'round
I once was lost but now I'm found
God bless the lions, God bless the lions

When I am older I know what I'll do
I've been chosen by lions, you see
I will fight those who bargain in flesh
So any child that is stolen can again be free

Make me a lion, make me a lion (2x)
With a roar like thunder that shakes the ground
I'll free the ones who once were bound
I once was lost but now I'm found
Make me a lion, Make me a lion
